Cellular Phones, Brain Tumors, and Microwave News

Microwave News, edited by Louis Slesin, reports on two European Union studies linking cellular phone usage with two types of brain tumors. These results are among the first from human epidemiology studies with this relatively new technology. The studies were small and did not differentiate infrequent and heavy users of cell phones. Both studies found increases in the same two types of brain tumors. These increases were found after just ten years of cell phone use. With tobacco and asbestos studies, cancer was not yet present after ten years of exposure.
Since cell phones are a fact of life, protect yourself by using a hands-free device. The popular concern that ear buds can serve as an antenna was debunked by Louis Slesin on an interview on May's WBAI/Pacific radio program, 4/24/07. This interview can be listened to, or downloaded to a CD, from May's website, www.createyourhealthyhome.com.

Louis suggested use of a landline phone for extended conversations.
